Emergency Medical Services on Kiawah Island On Friday, March 27 at 2 p.m. at the Sandcastle, four area emergency medical experts were on hand to discuss various EMS/ER topics relating to Kiawah Island and answer members' questions. Dr. Edward Jauch and Dr. Gary Headden, both ER medical specialists from MUSC, presented the medical aspect of an emergency, discussing strokes and heart attacks respectively.
Mr. Don Lundy, from the Charleston County EMS, and Chief Carl Ristow, from the St. Johns Fire District, presented the operational side of an emergency and what services currently exist on Kiawah.
