Our World

Our World is a complimentary educational lecture series produced by KICA that provides island residents with presentations by local experts on a wide variety of subjects. A light selection of wine and cheese will be provided and members are encouraged to interact with speakers following their discussions. Presentations occur at the Sandcastle on Thursdays at 3 p.m., and reservations are due the Monday prior to each presentation.

KICA welcomes your suggestions for educational event ideas. Please contact the Sandcastle (843-768-3875 or sandcastle@kica.us) to share your ideas or offer your expertise for a program. 

Opera Lite

Opera Lite combines audio/visual presentations of operatic performances with historical and literary perspectives to provide an entertaining and informative view into the world of opera. Opera Lite takes place on select Mondays at 3 p.m. at the Sandcastle. Please view the current Digest calendar for upcoming Opera Lite events.

Other Educational Events

An Italian conversation class holds regular sessions for both beginner and esperto. Mah-Jongg and Bridge lessons are available for those who enjoy card play, tile games, and friendly competition. Other educational opportunities will also be offered at various times throughout the year. Fees vary by class.

Conservation Matters

The Kiawah Conservancy produces the Conservation Matters presentation series at the Sandcastle Community Center. These presentations take place from October-May and are free to the public.
