Private Events
Whether it is a wedding, conference, birthday party, block party, bar mitzvah or anniversary, an ocean or creekside venue can make any event more memorable. The association’s Sandcastle and Cinder Creek facilities are available to members and sponsored guests to create a unique waterfront experience.
The Sandcastle: The oceanfront Sandcastle Community Center has a palatial feel, with marbleized tile and accents of jade and black throughout. The Sandcastle's aura of elegance continues throughout the second floor, where three event rooms provide a spacious, relaxing atmosphere. Each event room has floor-to-ceiling windows with access to a large verandah overlooking the scenic Atlantic Ocean. For large events, partitions may be removed between rooms to create one large open space accommodating up to 180 people. This floor is equipped with a full-service catering kitchen and members may hire an insured caterer of their choice. Included in facility rental are tables, chairs, glassware, dinnerware and flatware. Any outside rentals, including linens, must be setup through a coordinator or service provider.
Cinder Creek Pavilion: Tucked away in the preserve, off Blue Heron Pond Road on the eastern part of Kiawah, is the association's Cinder Creek Pavilion, a charmingly rustic little lodge. With its canopy of trees and gorgeous views of the creek, it is truly one of the most breathtaking spots on Kiawah. The simple structures are accented with real twigs and branches and have a natural romance that lends itself to many types of gatherings. A graceful, casually elegant wedding, a lazy picnic with extended family, or a block party with neighbors all work well at the pavilion. Open to the air but screened all around, the cottage has a large wood-burning fireplace to make brisk evenings cozy. There is an attractive outbuilding with bathrooms, a scenic boathouse for canoe or kayak storage and a dock over the water. To maintain the tranquility of the area, gatherings are limited to 75 guests, noise levels must be considerate, all events must be held between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., and only non-motorized boats will be permitted at the property.
