Conservation

KICA has placed conservation easements on several common properties around the island. Conservation easements, which limit development of the property in perpetuity, and keep the areas in their current natural state. These properties will forever provide habitat for Kiawah’s wildlife, and are be stewarded by the Kiawah Conservancy to ensure their conservation value is protected. Kiawah Island Natural Habitat Conservancy Inc. is an agency that specifically provides for the identification, preservation and appropriate management of the critical natural habitat needed to maintain a healthy, balanced and diverse population of native flora and fauna on Kiawah Island.
